Patching for squint

DD(4) was given glasses for a squint and lazy eye in Feb of this year. In clinic 2 days ago we were told that we would have to start patching as her vision had not improved enough. So we've done it for 2 days (only 3 hours a day) and she was complaining tonight of soreness around her eye, and it does look red in the areas of the sticky part of the patch. I'm guessing that she is allergic to this. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice on how we can manage this - are there different types of patch or any tricks to protect her skin? Thanks very much.
(Please excuse bizarre username - don't know how that happened and can't work out how to change it!)

You can get hypoallergenic plasters so hopefully they also make hypoallergenic patches?

I was patched from 3-5, had to have 2 ops to sort it out!

Ask at the hospital, they can provide different types of patch. Good luck, we have had a great result from patching so it can work!

My sister had to have this, you can get duff types of patch, I remember one that attahced onto her actual glasses so it wasn't in her skin.

I also remember when she had the patch on my mum used to get her to sort out hundreds and thousands (sprinkles for cakes) into the different colours! Anyway it worked and her squint was fixed. I dont remember how long it took but I do remember she got stickers for the activities she did whilst wearing the patch, they all got stuck on the fridge and she had a massive collection. She started at a slightly younger age than your dad.
