Digestion problems in 10 mth old

Some background info;
Ds is 10 months old. He started solids at 6 months with blw and eats well if relatively small amounts. He has been ebf and still has 5 feeds in 24hrs. One about an hour after each solid meal and two in the night around 11 and 4 (ish).

When he was little he used to cry for hours, pulling up his knees and arching his back. Doing various 'stretches', rubbing his tummy and bicycling his legs eventually got wind out and he'd fall asleep. It would often take a couple of hours for this to work. Around 8 months it seemed to improve. However, he's even worse now than before. He's usually asleep for the night by 7.30 and the first 3 hours are fine. From then on he wakes roughly every 2 hours, crying, sometimes screaming until he's up at 6.
Feeding him temporarily helps in that he is calm at the time (though sometimes still does little 'bucks') but as soon as the sleepiness wears off he is worse than ever.

When he's really exhausted he'll fall asleep sitting up against me but if I try to lie him down he cries and arches again. Equally if I lift his legs up and down he'll sometimes drop off but wake if I stop. I know the immediate thought is reflux but it's more that he likes having his stomach compacted. If I put my hand on his tummy I can feel it churning away and gurgling, exactly like I feel if I've got bad wind or indigestion.

If he does pass wind it smells truly awful, and he sometimes will giggle in him but it's rare.

Any thoughts from anyone out there? I hate to see him in so much pain and he seems too old to still be having problems like this. Sad

He shows no other signs of allergies etc. I am seeing the GP, but not for a week.

Sorry it's so long! Thank you for reading Smile

*sometimes will giggle if he does manage to pass wind but it is rare.

Sorry, not sure what happened there!

Thanks wombat. I'm sort of at the point where I just want to know what's wrong, whatever it is, so I know how to help.

Bumping in the hope of further thoughts out there...
