Mine did - it was the first sign that she needed glasses. Maybe time for a trip to the optician?

girliefriend · 25/06/2013 18:32

Take to g.p, as when my dd was getting headaches and he did a funny thing with her eyes to check the back of them I think!

Also quite often when dd says she has a headache its the start of an ear infection Sad

mandmsmummy · 25/06/2013 18:34

He wears glasses and had a check up in April so I didn't think its that. Is it commen for kids to get headaches? There's some that say kids never get them x

Time to really worry is when bad headache coincides with vomiting. In which case get to A&E. There are lots of causes of headaches, could be way he's sittig at school or his pillow, etc etc. If worried go talk to GP

Fragz · 25/06/2013 18:51

If you are worried I'd speak to your GP as others have suggested. In case it helps - I used to suffer headaches at that age - from aged 8 I also suffered bad migraines - would be sick/couldnt stand the light etc. We figured out they were often triggered by oranges, chocolate (couldn't eat more than 2 squares of chocolate) and hazy sunlight. They got worse into my early teens but now I rarely get them. Also now triggered by red wine - can't have more than half a glass! Anyway - at least in my case yes children can suffer and it isn't necessarily something terrible or eye sight related.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 25/06/2013 18:56

dd did, it turned out to be related to her developing asthma. i didn't put 2 and 2 together until she was sent home from school with a headache and ended up having an asthma attack that night. Her wheezing can be difficult to spot but the oxygen deprivation was giving her headaches. The gp said it's not unheard of.

I had headaches at that age but they were migraines so intense pain and nausea.

Eyesight is also a possibility, sometimes the first sign of failing eyesight is persistent mild headaches, you say he has newish glasses, is it possible the focus is slightly wrong on them?

mandmsmummy · 25/06/2013 20:05

Thanks all, I will see the gp just needed a quick reasurrance fix!
I'm not impressed with his optician so perhaps ill get a second opinion. X

I'd get him checked out but does he drink enough during the day? It Could be dehydration.

DeWe · 26/06/2013 10:22

Dd2 (age 9yo) is undergoing tests for migraines at present. I think it's just genetic-they sound exactly the same as mine. But the Gp wanted her to do a headache diary, so it might be worth you doing that for a month and seeing if you can work out a trigger or something.

mandmsmummy · 26/06/2013 17:20

Thanks all, saw the gp today she thinks its a sinus issue/ irritation thing. Have anti histamine to try x

Was just coming on to ask the same about my 4 yr old mandmsmummy. I am thinking sinuses as well so that's interesting that's what your gp has said re your little one.

mandmsmummy · 26/06/2013 19:56

It's a worry isn't it jossy? His are never debilitating but still a worry, hope u get your little on sorted out soon x
