Blisters on the Fingertips

DS2 age 6 has blisters covering most of his fingertip on 3 fingers. We can't think of anything repetitive he's been doing, they seemed to have appeared from nowhere?

Any ideas?

Tia

Hand foot and mouth? Burn? Allergic plan reaction?

Hardymum98 · 09/06/2013 10:05

Google images for herpetic whitlow... They start like fluid filled blisters.
Some children suffer badly & the finger goes quite red others it's jst a few blisters, they dry up after 7-10days.

My first thought was hand, foot and mouth too.

What does hand, foot and mouth entail? Sounds horrible!

He has no other symptoms

Small blisters on the hands, feet and in mouth. Makes eating quite painful.

It's not like foot and mouth that cattle get!

IIRC it's a viral thing, goes in a few days, pretty common .

Made an appointment at the docs, DS has another blister on his other hand/finger now.

Will he have to take any medication for it?

No but you can give Calpol etc if he is in pain. I got it quite badly off my daughter too - can give you flu like feeling, sore mouth and throat, very sore blisters on hands and feet (and nappy area for dd). Goes away by itself but you can get it again as it mutates like the cold virus. Get better soon.

He's come home from school saying his tummy hurts and he doesn't look we'll, poor lamb.

Oh dear, hope he feels better soon. He shouldn't really be at school if it is hand, foot and mouth. Have you got a chemists nearby that has a pharmacist? They may be able to tell you what it is.

Planning to take him to docs tomorrow, there were no appointments today.

He's in a very deep sleep now.

Just thought, he has had a dry cough for weeks now which we feared might be asthma. He's been given a peak flow chart for 2 weeks.

Is a cough a side effect of hand foot and mouth?

Turns put its an allergic reaction, to what we haven't figured out yet!

Been prescribed cream. He's feeling absolutely fine now.
