She is very good student, horrified at missing any school. Past10 days has sore throat and a bit wheezy. She does have an inhaler. Tonight she says she is exhausted and her chest hurts and doesn't think she will manage school tomorrow. They have been under a lot of pressure doing gcses early, and as they pointed out, had no time off for study leave like yr11, and homework piled on for other subjects. Do I let her have day off to rest, or get her checked out by gp?

I'd get her checked out by the GP - the sore chest would worry me and 10 days is long time to have a sore throat. Definitely wouldn't send her to school tomorrow. Hope she feels better soon.

Speaking as the mother of an asthmatic teenager, I would take her to be checked at the gp tomorrow. Does she have a preventer inhaler or just a blue ventolin? It could be that she needs a little more help if her chest is tight. It could be that she has a throat virus and this has aggravated her allergies. It's a hard time for them when they have exams to deal with as well.

yes she has both inhalers. She has gone to school this morning feeling awful, but she says she only has two more maths lessons before the gcse next week. If shes not any better, its doctors tomorrow.
