Tippytoes · 04/06/2013 08:12

Hi Tippytoes, what treatment did you buy? A white plastic nit comb worked best for me as I could then see the nits come out on it. I used the conditioner method which is time consuming but does work - you put lots of conditioner on their hair and then comb it through with your nit comb, section by section, rinsing the comb in a bowl of water each 'stroke'. I did this every night for about 2 weeks, and then a couple of times a week for 2 more weeks to be sure there were no more. It' a real drag, but it does work.

Good luck, nits are awful.

thank you, this is a white plastic one, but her hair is so thin it just glides over. it was a product called Lyclear that says it kills all in one go, but i will be doing it again to be sure.

Hi you need a nitty gritty comb and the lycleR stuff.

Can't recall actual technique. I never seem to get rid!! Someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute!!

I have no experience of Lyclear as I was advised not to buy anything as DD as asthma.

Even if you treat again, you need to check every night afterwards for at least a week and then a couple of times a week after that. It's awful but you only have to leave one and that's it - you have them back again.

I found it best to sit DD on a chair with her Nintendo to keep her occupied while I combed. It's a real do and takes ages, but it does work.

Definitely give the nitty gritty comb a go - those ones you get free in the packet of lotion are useless. Nitty gritty costs a tenner approx. but it's worth it to get rid of the buggers. Comb the hair in sections and pin it up if necessary so that you can work through it. Good luck and hope you get all the blighters.
