Sudden bedwetting (in an almost 8 yr old)

Does anyone have any experience of this - my DD has been dry at night for years, and yet is suddenly bedwetting again - she says she doesn't have anything that she is worrying about, her behaviour hasn't changed or anything and she can't explain it, other than saying she's waking up and finding she's wet.

Should I just leave it for a few more days and see what happens (it's only happened 3 times in the past 7 days).....

I would phone your Gp and take a sample of her urine into your surgery for them to test. If it shows anything then it can be treated, if not you could wait a bit to see if it stops by itself. Is she drinking more than usual or going to the toilet more during the day? Has she pain or discomfort when passing urine?

Hi

She's not complaining of any pain, or if backache, and she doesn't appear to be drinking more than usual - just waking up wet.

Thank you - I will phone the GP this morning. (just waiting to find out if she is wet this am).

Threadworms can cause bedwetting - could it be those?

chimchar · 04/06/2013 06:28

same happened to my ds when he was younger..

he had a water infection, but the symptoms didn't appear for a few days after the wetting started.

pop her to the gp to test her wee.

Thanks everyone - don't think it's worms, she's not itching or anything. She was dry this morning...very weird!

Is she more tired or thirsty than usual? Sudden bedwetting can be a sign of diabetes.

kpandthesunshineband2 · 05/06/2013 01:37

Yes agree GP - get either urine dip or blood test for glucose just to rule out Type 1 diabetes. DS developed T1D a few years ago & had occasional bed wetting. In hindsight was also increased thirst but not that obvious at the time. Also check for urinary tract infection.

Now you've worried me - she does seem to be tired, but not drinking more.....will get a sample done asap. (She has been dry since I posted however Confused!
