I've never been a big user of plasters on minor scrape and bumps. I would usually only use if the skin is loose and likely to irritate or if clothes are likely to rub and prevent a scab forming properly.
The vast majority of my kids injuries get cleaned up with an sntiseptic spray if necessary and they go back off to play.
The last few days my dd3 has headed to the neighbour with her bumps as she knows she will get a plaster. I don't have an issue with her being given plasters but I wonder if the fact that I don't use plasters as led to the neighbour being preferred over me iyswim.
Yesterday I did need to use a dressing on dtd2s knee. When I took it off the scab had stuck to the gauze. I had to borrow some germoline when I re-dressed it to stop it sticking. This is the first time I have ever needed to use an amtiseptic cream in 12yrs.
My mum used to use germoline all the time (the lovely smelling pink cream...why isn't it pink any more?!?).
