we arer Expecting our second baby in sept and we need a new thermometer.
For ds1 we had a brother max thermometer but it is dreadful despite spending around £30 on it . I have just read the john Lewis reviews and they r shocking (should have read them before we bought it Blush)

therefore we need a new one for our new arrival but am now confused as to what to get . the midwife told me when ds1 was born that the ear therms were the most accurate but too big for baby ears , but I have seen some on the market that claim they r small enough to fit into baby newborn ears ..

any one shed some light on some descent accurate ones ?

I have the Braun one and it's very good. You do need to buy plenty of the plastic covers because they are supposed to be single use.

The braun one is excellent. The gp used it to check 3 month old dd's temp recently and looked at me blankly when i asked if it was ok to use on a little baby. But guess might not be suitable for a very little baby though. Beyond 6 months, they are excellent.

I have the Braun thermos can one that's what our gp uses, I had to replace mine after ds2 put it in the dishwasher and they were down to £25 on amazon

I have a (v cheap) electronic thermometer which has been in use for infants/children/teenagers/husbands for 15+ years. AFAIK it's pretty accurate, but honestly it's never ever told me anything that looking at and touching the patient didn't tell me first.

Personally I wouldn't bother. How accurate does a temperature reading need to be? If they have one and they're ill you know. Smile
