Dd 12 says tummy 'whirling'??

My dd just came downstairs, saying her tummy is 'whirling' and that it's not pleasant.

Last night she had us awake til 4 a.m saying she was unable to sleep and then that she felt sick. She wasn't sick and it seems some computer or phone game she's been playing at a friend's is preying on her mind, scaring her.

Does a whirling tummy sound familiar to anyone and what can I do about it? I have suffered with IBS but don't really know that she means. Should I make her some peppermint tea or something? Can't face another night with so little sleep!

It sounds like nerves/stress to me.

I can't help, but just to say that my Dd (10) has said the same to me - for about a week she's been getting bad pains in her stomach and described it as whirling too! She's practicing being a stroppy teenager at the moment so I did think it might be stress? Or heartburn?
Good luck with sleeping tonight!

Thanks Smile I think possibly nerves/stress too. I've made her some camomile tea and put on an audio book, The Little Princess, an old favourite. Hope it will lull her to sleep.

She has complained a lot of funny tummies recently, just hasn't said whirling before and she said tonight it was a new feeling for her. I've been putting them down to possibly leading up to her starting her periods soon.

It may be her periods brewing up even if they haven't started yet. Perhaps she describes it as 'whirling' if it is an unfamiliar feeling to her? As she is 12 she is old enough for paracetamol tablets - you could give her one when her tummy is bad and see if it helps.

Thanks. Luckily she went to sleep and slept through. She's out playing with her friends now, will see how she is tonight.

It sounds like anxiety to me.

Sounds like a mild bug to me. If it was just a one night thing
