Molluscum Contagiousum

What started off as a few lumps on my eldest son has not spread to my 4 year old son and my 16 month old daughter.
I've taken them to the GP twice and both times they've said just let it run its course and that there are no cures for it. They've said it's very common and that its not harmful to them.
Have any of you had any experience of this and does anyone know of any treatments??
Thanks.

That should read "now" spread and not "not".
The three of them look pickled and its hideous!

DD3 has had it for months. It's hideous and makes her look as though she shouldn't be swimming, so I can commiserate. There seems to be a lot of it about at the moment.

TreeHuggerMum1 you have my sympathies, both my DS have it too and it is driving me crazy! I answered your other thread earlier, but having done masses of research there seems to be nothing in particular that works and many remedies (like freezing) can scar and don't always completely get rid of the virus. The trick seems to be finding a way to 'wake up' the immune system so that the body naturally rejects the warts. I have been waiting patiently for them to disappear of their own accord for 6 months now and they look more at home in the crook of my sons arm than ever and also poor DS2 has it as well now (he is only 3). I have just started using apple cider vinegar but am planning on going back to my GP to ask for a referral. There is no way I am putting up with this any longer, it can stay in the system for up to 4 years apparently. Nightmare! It's not just the appearance of the molluscum that bothers me, it's the fact that its so uncomfortable/itchy for my boys....that's what upsets me most. I am determined to sort it and will feed back if I have any success. Fingers crossed!

A referral to whom and for what? There is nothing to be done except wait. You can't cure it by force of will, sadly.

No help to you I'm afraid, but where I live (Italy) the dermatologist scraped them off and they were gone.

They can take up to a year to disappear, and in the meantime spread all over the body and infect hundreds of people!

It's shame they won't treat them in the UK.
