Spots/Rash on 8 year old daughter

My almost Smile 8 year old dd woke up yesterday morning with spots in her face and arms and a few on her legs. Not pimples, not a rash - spots.

She has no other symptoms - no temp, they're not even that itchy. She hasn't done anything out of the ordinary, no washing powder/ soap change.

It looks a bit like a viral rash but she is fine.

Any ideas? I can sometimes be too relaxed re the kids and illnesses!

Used to get this with DS when small. GP eventually diagnosed "non specific rash". I think this was the rash equivalent of everything being a virus. Would go on its own after a couple of days.

It could be molluscum, there is an awful lot of it about at the moment.

What is molescum?

Can't help but my dd has had a rash for past couple of days too. At first I thought she had midge bites, then maybe reaction to heat. Most recently thought it was reaction to wearing new clothes bought earlier this week which I didn't wash before she wore them. She has been fine and says it doesn't itch, however last night said she felt sick and tonight has 'funny tummy'. She also has a sore foot. Don't know if these things are related.

Don't think it's related either, but dh and I have had sore throat and cough this week. Dd hasn't had this yet.

I've googled molloscum but photos of the rash look different to dds rash, more raised.

Thanks, well they faded after another day, not completely away but almost. On Friday morning dd2 woke up with the same but they were completely gone by about 8 hours later.

We would usually have a bout of sore tummies every once in a while but with no d & v.

Anyway normal service resumed in the Wiggles house - hence me being on MN before 7am on a weekend Confused

Thanks

thebestpossibletaste, molluscum is basically viral warts. Sounds gross I know and it's a nightmare to shift once it sets in. Both my DS have it which is why I mention. But other than its unsightly appearance and itchiness there are no other side effects and it does (so I am told) eventually disappear by itself. It won't give a child a funny tummy for instance. Very much hope this isn't what your dd has, sounds like it isn't. But one to watch out for, it's as common as nits but much worse!
