Joseph's ongoing journey with Neuroblastoma

I've lost count of the thread number now, but my 3 year old DS, Joseph, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer called neuroblastoma last year.

Part-way through treatment he has relapsed (currently still clarifying that, but it's almost guaranteed) and at that point long-term survival is less than 5%.

He is beautiful and wonderful.

Hope it's going ok.

Tomorrow a day of respite, dv, inshallah.

Keeping my lights a lit for one more day.

So pleased his pain has lessened - such a brutal disease and treatment - you and your boy are amazing.

Trazzletoes · 31/08/2013 21:24

He's back on the Imodium now and nearly finished with the antibodies for this cycle... 40 minutes left and then just holding our breath until ward round tomorrow morning and then hopefully hopefully hopefully home.

Really hope everything's ok and you both get home tomorrow.

MrsFrederickWentworth · 31/08/2013 22:41

Hoping with you. And that the last 40 mins were ok.

TwentyTinyToes · 01/09/2013 20:50

Fingers crossed you are all home. X

Millie2013 · 01/09/2013 22:38

Go Joe!! :) I hope he is ok today, he's doing so bloody amazingly well!

ToffeeWhirl · 02/09/2013 10:58

Glad you and Joe got home, Trazzles. Hope all is going well today.

Trazzletoes · 06/09/2013 06:55

Apologies, have been mega-busy again this week.

We did get home on Sunday, eventually, after I spent 4 hours stomping up and down the ward glaring at everyone while waiting for joe's meds. We ended up leaving and then collecting them later as the pharmacy appears to be grossly understaffed on weekends. Still, we got out.

Joe is still recovering from the treatment which makes me so anxious about the next lot. His gut is limping along Sad

However, he has had a lovely birthday and popped in to nursery twice this week. He finds it a little overwhelming but I think it's good for him to spend an hour with healthy children.

He even tried 4 nibbles of birthday cake - the first he has eaten in several weeks.

Plus my card got shown on cbeebies! (I'm delighted by this) Joseph refused to look and then said he hated it.

Ah well!
Now mega-prep starts for the party at the weekend and the weather looks horrendous so I will mostly be rocking in a corner while the playroom gets trashed.

Happy 4th birthday Joe! Hope you have lots of fun at your party. Good luck with the weather Trazzle.

CoteDAzur · 06/09/2013 08:22

Welcome home and happy birthday, Joe! Smile

northernlurker · 06/09/2013 08:30

Happy Birthday Joe Smile

Good luck Trazzles. Best bit about a party is the time after they've gone when you bask in the glow of a happy child and an almost empty house Grin

Ragusa · 06/09/2013 09:13

Happy birthday Joe! Hope he has a good party Flowers

SPBisResisting · 06/09/2013 09:43

Happy Birthday Joe!
So impressed at the cbeebies card :) I'm sure he was secretly feeling thrilled at seeing his face on the TV

ToffeeWhirl · 06/09/2013 10:12

I'm so impressed you managed to get Joe's card on CBeebies. Also very impressed at the CBeebies card. I'm afraid I was never organised enough to do this, yet you have 100x more on your plate than I ever had on mine Blush. Typical child that he didn't appreciate it!

I hope the party goes well and that you have lots of booze in the fridge/cupboard for later! (Or maybe during...!).

ToffeeWhirl · 06/09/2013 13:44

Sorry, Trazzles, seem to have said the same thing twice. I am obviously very, very impressed!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 06/09/2013 14:24

Happy birthday Joe!

Wow, a card shown on Cbeebies, very special. (I did laugh though, when you said he hated it, typical! Grin)

Nooneelseisallowedafergus · 06/09/2013 14:29

Happy birthday joe. I think of you often x x

Kveta · 06/09/2013 14:32

happy birthday Joe :)

Madondogs · 06/09/2013 15:13

Happy birthday Joe, I never post but think of you and your mummy often x

ClockWatchingLady · 06/09/2013 16:31

Happy (late) birthday Joseph! You continue to sound utterly gorgeous, and I alongside all your many other fans think of you and your mum often.
As for the CBeebies success, just WOW - what a triumph!

onedev · 06/09/2013 19:21

Happy birthday Joe - enjoy your party!

Well done Trazzles on getting card onto CBeebies - I'm another who was never organised enough to do this!! Grin

JetcatisBack · 06/09/2013 20:02

De-lurking to say Happy Birthday Joe Smile

I did send a card in to CBeebies - however, I also forgot to put DD's actual birthday date on it, so they would have had no idea when to show it Blush

Trazzletoes · 06/09/2013 21:14

Jet its cringe-worthy watching it. And quite clear they just use the first take! I didn't write his age on the back - because there's a massive number on the front so Kat's like, how old are you? 4 of course!

She also can't read my writing and gets DD's name wrong, my DM's name wrong and also says from the cats and DCat1 and DCat2, rather than from the cats, Dcat1 and Dcat2 iyswim. You wouldn't know if you didn't know the names except she just makes something up for DMum. Still, a couple of days on and J has admitted he was secretly quite pleased to have the card shown. He now wants to make one for DD

Tbh, I'm the world's least organised person but I've always wanted to have his card on TV and thinking "am I even going to have the chance to do this next year" focuses the mind somewhat.

Sorry for not mentioning when it was his real birthday but given how much of his life I share on here I don't think he's thank me in future for posting his date of birth too.

Bless his heart, he's still struggling with his tummy and it causes him a lot of pain. He's still not really walking but DH is better at getting him up so hopefully he'll come on over the weekend.

Hope his tummy settles over the weekend. Bless him, he sounds like the most lovely boy.
