Dd 15 months unwell woke up screaming

Dd threw up yesterday evening and kept doing so after she'd fed/eaten. So cut down on feeds (she's BF) keeping them to every 45 mins but very short. She's stopped vomiting now so just feeding as normal. Not back properly on solids yet

All day she's been very lethargic and clingy although eating little bits and feeding on and off. She's got a raised temp.

Put her to bed an hour ago and she just woke up screaming - not crying but full in screaming. Scared the crap out of me - but she stopped once she got her dummy and cuddled her back to sleep.

I wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what the jeff would make her scream like that? Her brother has scarlet fever (nurse said to keep an eye on dd but no signs as yet) so not sure if that's a factor. I can't relax and don't dare google as that never helps.

Might be completely off track, but could she be teething too? Our DD woke up screaming to curdle the blood after being put to bed ok on holiday when she was about the same age. Scared the bejesus out of us. Think it was teething - some paracetamol calmed her, but she was off for a good few days. No other underlying reason as far as we could find. Gum rub was useful too - think she did have some sore spots in her gums. A while ago now. Dummy helped too I think - she never had a dummy unless she was teething.

Don't google - take her to GP if you're worried and get her checked over fully.

Yes she is teething too...! But she is def unwell as well

Because her brother has scarlet fever I'm wondering if she's brewing it too - was going to get her to the GP tomorrow first thing.

I see yet another sleepless night on the cards!

Poor you!! Is horrendous, isn't it. And never just one thing at a time. I used to cling to the belief that if my child could scream the house down she would survive/not be too poorly.

Hope they're both much better very soon and you can catch up on your rest.

So true Grin

Dd has been ok so far. I've loaded up a syringe with calpol ready for we next scream awakening.

A very wise midwife enlightened me with that one after my many and varied anxious phone calls regarding our first newborn DD. How we can laugh about it all now Ha Ha Ha!

I also found BFing a Godsend when they were ill. Was the only thing they could keep down sometimes, but just fantastic to keep them hydrated when they're sick. (Shame in some respects, as I could often have done with a small brandy to calm my nerves Smile)

Oh yes I was incredible anxious with ds.

The first time he had antibiotics I watched closely for an allergic reaction. I then called 999 when his legs went wobbly - turns out he was doing a poo Blush

I'm a bit more relaxed with dd - but sometimes I think I'm too relaxed so then get anxious that maybe I've under reacted

Bf is a godsend - I was thinking what the jeff would I have done if she'd not been feeding from me still...!
