My DD2 has been vomitting since 2am last night, not even able to keep water down. I've been hoping it's just one of these 24 hr things that'll pass. Apart from the sickness there's been nothing else.
She had some water at about 7.30pm and no more vomit but she's now got a temp of 39. ...so....I don't know if I should give her any Calpol or not. Not sure if it matters if her tummy is utterly empty, worried it might make her sick but thinking I should try and get her temp down. She's sleeping fairly peacefully as I type this but was quite restless a little while ago. Not sure what to do for the best.

I would wake her to give calpol

Give her calpol, and keep giving her sips of water. Even when a child seems to vomit it all back, they do tend to absorb a small amount first. The best way to do water is in small amounts - about 5mls at a time, really often - like every 10-20 minutes.
You don't say how old your little one is?
If over 3 years old I found that sipping Lucosade sport (the still orange one) seemed to work wonders for my children, but I wouldn't have tried it in an under 3.
I would give the calpol, and very slowly strip your child off one layer at a time. You want to cool your child without making them shivver (as shivvering sends the temperature higher), so if you think they are looking a bit shivvery put a thin layer back on.
Hope she is better soon xxx
If at any point you are conserned that she looks dehydrated get her seen by a Dr xxx

Thanks for your replies. Sorry, should have put, she's 2.9yrs. She woke last night and i did give her Calpol. She gave it back about 5 mins later. But i think that might have been because she'd really guzzled at the water bottle. She then slept ok, just woken again so I've given her some more Calpol, she's had some more water and (touches wood) it's stayed down. So fingers crossed, as belgianbun said, it'll be short lived. Thanks
