Is this teething or a tantrum?

My 14.5 month old DD will suddenly start screaming, a little while ago this happened when I put her tea down in front of her. She'd been very interested in it when I took it out of the oven, but 5 mins later when it was put down in front of her she started screaming and wailing. After offering to feed her, offering her the spoon, waiting etc. I gave up and took her out of the high chair. I tried cuddling in in the front room, but she was pushing me away, so I put her on the floor. She's now writhing around, chewing one hand (which is why I think it may be teething), pointing at things which, when I give them to her, the bats them away. She reaches up like she wants a hug and when I go to give her one, she swats me away. All the while wailing and screaming. She had some calpol a while ago as she was doing this with my husband about an hour ago. I've tried to give her bonjela, but she just won't let me get near her mouth. I just don't know what to do to sooth her and feel so helpless. Any suggestions? Please.

Could be anything - any fever? Ds was like this with ear infections.

BeaWheesht, thanks for your reply. No, I don't think she has a fever.

She's finally gone to sleep, after much screaming and wailing. She hasn't eaten anything for tea and wasn't even interested in milk. I have resorted to Wine for the first time in parenthood [for me obviously, not DD].

I'd lay odds on an ear infection - it makes it hard to suck too. Keep an eye though and hopefully she'll be better tomorrow
