Chickenpox - if we avoid social contact can we still go out?!?

DS1 has woken up with perfect blisters and spots still coming, so obviously not going to school for the duration. Within the confines of needing to keep out of everyone's way - can we pop out for short stretches? DS2 will go stir crazy otherwise (and I may do too... there's only so many fairy cakes you can make). Any advice? Thanks!

When DS2 had chicken pox I took him out, to the beach on a really horrible wet, windy, cold day in winter. We were the only people there.

We went out for a drive and I made up check lists, had to spot certain things and tick them off.

Another time we went to an empty beach and ran around.

All sounds so much more romantic than knocking around the backstreets of Bounds Green! But we'll seek out the deserted places... thank you!

Well, you obviously cannot go to any places where there are people, eg shops, cafes, soft play etc.

If you go to an empty park for a walk it may be fine. How does he feel in himself though, kids with chickenpox often have a bit of fever and are a bit off colour, so may not even feel like going out.

Be careful with chickenpox, it is one of those diseases which are inconvenient and not too bad for most people, but it can have serious complications in some cases and is extremely dangerous for people who are immune suppressed or taking immune suppressants (steroids for example for asthma). There are many immune suppressed people around ...
