Can older kids develop reflux?

Dd is nearly 12. For the past few months she's been having a lot of episodes of sickness which is increasing in frequency.

It's not major vomiting by any stretch....often just a mouthful of sick. She reckons that she has no warning its coming, that she just suddenly has a mouthful of sick. Sometimes it's a bit more than a mouthful but never a tummy bug vomit amount.

I'd say that the last couple of weeks it's happened at least once every day, sometimes twice. Nearly always immediately after eating. She seems to burp a lot which I've told her to try and stop. She says she can't stop it and that the sick is making her burp rather than a burp making her sick. Though it seems to me she burps and is sick.....but sometimes she's sick without burping.

Doctors?

Hi. Sorry I don't have an answer but would be interested in how you got on if she went to GP as my 6 yr old occasionally says that he has some sick come into his mouth. He had reflux as a baby but nothing much till now.

Definitely take her to the doctors. I would also keep a diary of how frequently it is happening and keep an eye on her weight. Is there a pattern to it? Time of the day or particular food group?
You need to find out why this is happening, I would also want blood tests to check vitamin levels. In the meantime you could try giving her probiotic powders to help her gut.
