Adenoids?

DS is 21 months and has always been a poor sleeper. He still wakes frequently and snores quite loudly.

My mother recently suggested he might have enlarged adenoids, as she felt such a small child shouldn't really be snoring like an adult man.

DS doesn't really suffer from colds that often, but I have noticed a nasal tone to his voice and in addition to the snoring and interrupted sleep, he seems to snort and sniff a lot in his sleep. He also occasionally seems to have brief breaks in his breathing during sleep.

I will obviously visit the GP with him as soon as possible to have further tests done, but I was hoping to hear if anyone had had anything similar with their DC.

My DD had hers looked at when she had grommets put in. The consultant said he may as well whip them out at the same time if they were enlarged.
They weren't, but all it took was a bendy scope up the nose holes. She was chuffed to bits as she saw them on his little telly.

DD had all of those symptoms and had hers removed when her grommets were fitted. My DD had also started with symptoms of apnea and would stop breathing. All of the above stopped as soon as her monsterously huge adenoids were removed.

Go see your GP and request a referall to ENT.

or, could be dustmite allergy. both adenoids and rhinitus are common causes of snoring in young children (who shouldnt be snoring btw)

can ask for blood test and referal while at GP.
