Constant colds

Hi all I'm new! 

Am after a bit of advice really, my DS (4 in may) has had two nasty viruses in less than 3 weeks with fevers that last around 5 days. I've had a cold this week wich I thought I'd caught off him but turns out he's just caught it off me!
He was like this last winter too but fine through summer.
He doesn't have a fever (fingers crossed he don't) with this cold
I'm a natural worrier (suffer with anxiety due to nearly losing him when he was a baby) so any little thing he gets I'm convinced its something more. I've seen countless drs because I want a blood test they are refusing because he is "well" his liver or spleen is not enlarged he's alert bright eyes active happy little boy.just so frustrating he gets all these colds etc especially with all the coughing at night (any tips?) one gp however wouldn't do a blood test but has referred to a paediatric who will make that decision. I feel like the drs just think I'm a neurotic paronoid over reacting mum and don't take me seriously!
Does anyone else's little ones get such frequent infections. And yes he does go to preschool but has only been 1 week out of 3 I also started him on multi vitamins a few weeks back as his diet isn't that great  but that's another story! Lol my lil man does not realise how much worry an anxiety he causes me.
I also have a 13 month old dd who for the best part of her first year of life has spent on anti bs from all the nasty bugs her big brother brings back from the germ factory. (Why do parents send their kids in when they're poorly!!) bless her. They are so precious and I don't care if I'm ott they need protecting I'm their mummy an that's my job to make sure they are safe  xxxxx

Have any other parents experienced this in their children - yes! It seems some months they are always always ill. I found that group childcare and use of public transport (seriously, rolling germ factories) was an evil combo in terms of kids catching things.

What are the eating issues you mention? Could be related.

Well he just doesn't want to eat. I still have to spoon feed him IF he decides to eat :( he's starting school in September I don't know what I'm going to do. He hates any form of fruit and veg. The only thing he will willingly eat is chicken nuggets :/ anything else he just gags! Unless its sweets biscuits etc

I think the paed referral is good. When you go, make sure he or she gets a holistic picture of the whole affair -e.g., food intake, feeding struggles, any growth/ weight issues as well as the viruses etc.

The pieces might stack up to warrant a few blood tests of further investigations. I was wondering about things like coeliac, iron deficiency anaemia, reflux or allergies TBH but it's possibly not that helpful for someone medically untrained like me to give a view.

I don't think you should be brushed off if your four year old is not eating properly. It needs getting to the bottom of I reckon.

Was he a vomity baby? Any eczema, rashes, diarrhea/ constipation as an infant?

Nope wasn't sicky at all. He was rushed to hospital for an emergency abdominal op at 8 weeks old. It was lympho something or other they said it was really rare. He never had any problems from it. Basically he had loose fluid from his glands I think I've never been given the whole story as to why it happened and I'm going to bring it up at the peads appt.
he's a good weight he's 35LBs so is 75th for height and weight (at the mo) although he looks skinny to me. He's not anaemic (not by looking anyway) and I've started giving multi vitamins. We're not seeing the paediatric until mid march so will keep u posted Smile
