Babies in cold air

I spend a lot of time outside in the UK and obviously it's quite cold at the moment (freezing and lightly snowing today). I have my 5 month old in a sling most of the time outdoors so I'm not concerned that he's getting cold, but I'm worried whether the very cold air he's breathing in might not be good for him, and whether there's anything I should be doing to protect him, or whether I should try to limit my time out in the cold?

Read the Nordic Napping thread.

I often wondered this too, was it bad fir lungs etc, but after reading that thread it seems not.

All my babies were born in January. In Canada. I took them out for short walks several times a day, every day, right from birth (sometimes when it was -10). Doctors encourage it and I totally agree...fresh air is good for everyone Smile.

Read this article, there seems little evidence that it actually does the babies any good, actually it may be harmful.

My dd, dh and I all suffer from sinus pain when going out in the cold weather. Very very painful.

My DD, 16 months is out every day in all weather since she was a week old. I think fresh air is good as long as they are well dressed.
