Achy legs after virus

My, almost 6, DS has been unwell this week - temperature and off food for 48 hrs. Today he's complaining he can't walk due to pain behind both knees. This happened last month too following a similar short-lived virus. Read lots of things about this being a common post-viral reaction among children but I'm a bit concerned it's happened again so quickly. Will obviously consult our GP but can't really do anything until Monday am now. Last time, after a day or so of walking on tip toes he was back to his active self, any similar experiences? Thank you.

I think this is common after flu type vruses. Still worth checking but GP told me this. Not sure why though.

My little one has had the same thing, a few times and happened again this week, he started limping on Thursday and woke up Friday not being able to walk on his right leg. Took him to the gp who sent him to hospital where they diagnosed reactive arthritis. And said just keep going with regular ibruphen. He's on day seven of sky high temps now but Ealing on his leg with just a slight limp. His twin brother has the same bug too, it's been a long week!
I think if your ds is still in pain Monday would be worth avcheck up with the gp.

Thanks ladies, back from out of hrs GP who reassured us it was post viral. DS made miraculous recovery in the waiting room when he spotted a Star Wars album on the other side of the table. Can't believe I lost a night's sleep over this!
