DS1 (5) has had intermittent diarrhoea for 2 weeks now. Last week (half term) he had urgency and explosive poo, this week he's still had loose poo but not the urgency.
Today, he's been dashing backwards and forwards to the loo and hasn't made it a couple of times Sad .
He's fine in himself and the rest of the family are unaffected. Should I call the gp?

Yes: especially if you were away over half term (remembers SiL's description of DNeph's giardiasis all too vividly).

Your local pharmacy can also be a good place to get expert advice and treatment for diarrhoea, if you're Gp can't see you right away.

What do you understand to be "diarrhoea"?

If it runs off a spoon like water it's diarrhoea, if it doesn't, it's not!

If your 5-yr old had had diarrhoea continuously for 2 weeks I would say you need to get it checked out.

You say the diarrhoea is intermittent though. So, if he's eating, drinking and playing normally, is otherwise well and doesn't have a temp, I wouldn't worry about it.

Your GP won't start any investigations on that history alone - save a stool sample perhaps. So if you do go to GP, take a sample of the diarrhoea with you!

Yup, reminds me of breastfed baby poo, except it smells a lot worse!
