4yo DS has a bit of blood when wiping after a poo - should he see GP?

I've noticed this over the last 3 or 4 days. There's not loads but an obvious bit of blood on the toilet paper when wiping. I think he's had a dose of worms as well which I've treated with Ovex a week ago - not sure if that makes a difference. He doesn't seem constipated or in pain.
What would you do?

I would get him checked out, he may have a little tear that could get infected, best be safe.

Get that child to the doctors to be checked out

DiamondStuds · 11/02/2013 20:35

samandkat - you sound like you think this is serious?

I will try and get him an appointment for Wednesday.

I would doubt its serious - probably a little tear or cut but best to get it checked.

My son sometimes has this. If we can't get him to eat enough roughage he strains and sometimes has a little blood when wiping.
The GPs may want you to take a poo sample.

samandkat - slightly melodramatic. No need to stress the OP so much.

Yes, OP, best to get it checked out, but it probably is a little tear.

starfishmummy · 11/02/2013 20:46

If it looks like blood it is possible that it is just a little tear or a scratch but it shkuld be checked out

Sorry, hit post too soon. If it has been digested it wont be red.
