Background: my mum died last week after a short struggle with lung cancer and her funeral is on Monday.
DD (2.7) has been lovely and a really sunny distraction for me, DH and my dad while we've been planning the funeral.
She was sent home from nursery yesterday with a high temperature (38.4) and a swollen jaw; her jaw is still swollen this morning although the fever has come down a fair bit, she is complaining of a sore ear and has a raspy cough with a rattle when she breathes.
She has had the MMR first jab, but as I understand it they aren't fully effective until the booster is given at age 3. I fear it may be mumps, in which case she would need to be kept in isolation for a while, including over the funeral period.

Currently waiting for DH to take her to the GP to find out for sure. A faint hope I know, but are there any other childhood illnesses which have a swollen jaw as symptoms? (hopeful). It's partly for selfish reasons as I'm OK if I keep busy at the moment, but I'm dreading being confined to the house with an ill toddler as I know I won't be able to keep it together if I have time to reflect :(

Sorry for venting!
