ds is hardly ever ill so I feel a bit unsure of what to do atm... hes had a high temp all day despite having calpol, and says he hurts everywhere. hes slept on sofa this afternoon for a couple of hours but been no better since waking. I rang docs and theyve got no emergency appointments today . they suggested I go to a walk in clinic but this involves getting ds to walk to a bus stop, and a 15 min bus journey plus howver long we have to wait... and then back again... how imp do you think it is to see doc in these circumstances? we should be able to go to local docs tomorrow if I phone early enough. wwyd? apologies fir being so lame and not knowing what to do... last time ds was like this he was a baby and docs only ever want us away saying it was a virus, and to keep giving him calpol. advice would be grway.

Poor DS. It's hard to say without being there, but unless I thought his temperature was extremely high, or any other symptoms such as rash, sore neck etc. or difficulty breathing etc. I'd prob keep him tucked until tomorrow. You could call NHS Direct to ask their advice too.
You could alternate giving Calpol paracetamol with children's Ibruprofen (Calprofen or Nurofen make) as you can give each up their own max daily dose so as one is wearing off the other might help to take his aches away.
Is he drinking water/fluids?

thanks for reply. theres no rash, but hes so listless poor little thing. hes had a little to drink but hasnt eaten anything since this morning. ill keep offer g him water... I just asked him if his neck hurt and he said yes, but he also said his elbow hurts when I asked about that too, so not sure really!

Yes when you ache all over I'm sure your neck hurts too! If you are worried you can NHS Direct, they'll ask lots of questions and usually give sensible advice. It's most likely to be a virus like you said, and rest and fluids are the best bet.
