I'm probably being a bit over sensitive but my dd was playin happily with my dh before bed and then I went in to moisturise her and she starte tugging at her nappy crying. She has been out all day at a party and is very tired but I thought this was very strange behaviour. She was ok when I have her we dummy but then when I was about to read her her book she started with the nappy tugging thing again so I gave her her milk and put her to bed and now she is asleep. I can't relax and I feel very unsettled by it. I won't b able to sleep tonight. I'm worried its a urine infection or something. She has had lots to drink but has done lots of poos today ( on movicol for constipation) so maybe that has given her an infection? Am I being ridiculous? I feel silly writing it down but I'm 39 weeks pregnant and really don't want to go into labour leaving my dd if she is unwell :(

Maybe the nappy was chafing a bit? Was there any rash at all?

If she went off to sleep OK and has been able to wee and poo all day without discomfort, I doubt she has an infection. See how she is tomorrow when she gets up.

at 39 weeks you're allowed to worry about this stuff :)

I did check for a rash but there was nothing there. Thank you for saying its ok to worry, my dh thinks I'm truley mental lol. I cant help it, I just get really worried. U r right I guess I will c how she is tomorrow and how heavy her nappy is. Just was so out of the blue to grab at her nappy and cry. She was fussing about brushing her teeth and didnt want her book so perhaps over tired?

She could've scratched herSelf or just be uncomfortable or have got a hair down there or anything. If she's sleeping I think she will be fine - keep an eye in her temp and nappies if she's the same tomorrow

Sometimes you just can't tell. If she was tugging at the nappy, I would have removed it and binned it, let her go without a nappy for a few mins and then put a new nappy on.

So dd had a pretty good nappy this morning, heavy and full of wee. so I guess that would rule out an infection?

No not necessarily having an infection doesn't stop you weeing

Cupcakemummy85 · 04/02/2013 12:10

But it wouldn't be a lot of wee would it. She seems ok in herself and she isn't pulling at it constantly. Don't they say they would have a temp too?

I don't understand why you think there'd be a lack of wee?

Dd had a UTI without much of a temp - maybe aroun 378 ish but she had blood in nappy so obvious.

Cupcakemummy85 · 04/02/2013 18:17

There's no blood in nappy and dd seems fine in herself. The reason I say there wouldn't b much wee is that in my experience when when having a uti u pass urine a lot but it's very little and very difficult and very painful. Perhaps it's different or toddlers. She doesn't seem bothered by her nappy today on once this morning and she did a poo so I'm wondering if she is now more aware of what's in her nappy. I don't know it's a bloody minefield when they can't talk. Maybe I should phone a health visitor?
