15mo mouth is bleeding. Should I go to gp as well as the dentist?

For the last three nights ds has woken up with blood on his sheets. He's fine, eating well, and I've just been able to pinpoint it to his lower left gum. He's got teeth coming through. I've got an apt at the dentist on Monday.

Should I see the gp too or am I being paranoid?! It seems obvious that it's a dental issue but I'm worried about infection etc. I've just never experienced a teething child with bleeding gums so to me it's not normal. But, it was the first thing the dentist's receptionist asked so clearly it's not that unusual!

I'd phone the dentist and ask for an emergency appt. if he's uncomfortable/in pain then it needs to be seen.

And dentist receptionists are not dentists. She not qualified to diagnose.

Thanks. He's not in pain and it's not bothering him at all. He's fine! I know she can't diagnose but I'm kind if reassured that someone else suggested teething may be the prob as he's DEFINITELY teething.

All 3 of mine have had bleeding gums whilst teething - especially with their molars.

To be honest it never occurred to me to get it checked out (feeling like a bad mother now) but they're all past that stage now with seemingly no ill effects so hopefully you have no major cause for concern.
