Can I take unwell DS to my hospital appointment?

I know the answer is probably no, but just hoping someone can help me solve this!

I have a hospital appointment to speak to consultant anaesetist about pain relief in labouasthma afternoon (as I think there's a possibility the epidural won't work). Getting the appt hasn't been the easiest, I don't want to miss it!

DS was meant to be at his CMs today, but he's lying next to me, asleep and coughing and you can hear his chest is wheezy.

He was feeling poorly yesterday but had bounced back by the afternoon, he seemed fine.

I'm not going to drag him in if he's feeling rough, but if he bounces back again, like yesterday, is it OK to take a child to a consultant appt? (and one who's not very well).

If not is it acceptable to ask your CM to look after a sick child? I've always kept him home if sick (but nit colds, unless a heavy cold).

DP would normally stand in but he's in his last year of a degree, and has a major deadline tomorrow. I can't ask him!

WWYD?

I wouldn't take him. If he has a chest infection you don't want to be spreading it around vulnerable people

Thanks for the reply :)

Normally I'd just keep him home but I really don't want to miss this! Would you ask the CM? (I wouldn't normally, it doesn't seem right, but just checking!)

I'd say ask CM, she can always say "no". It might depend if she has other children with her today. It might be worth phoning the hospital now and putting it to them if you cancel your appointment today because of an ill child, would they have anything else in the next few days? Sometimes they do keep spare appointments which are given out at the last minute. Alternatively, do you have any family who could have him? Hope you manage to sort something out.

We live miles from our families, and hometowns. Our support network here is tiny! We do have a lovely lodger who would normally offer at the drop of a hat. But she has a crucial uni deadline too! Most of our other friends here are also from uni and in the same boat. My mum friends work.
There is one possibility, have sent a text! (Keeping fingers crossed!)
