Hi all. Dd1 was sick Xmas eve and all night then she was weak and nauseaous for a few days but ok now.
Dd2 was sick Xmas night then a couple more times overnight and seemed to recover. But has continued to be off her food almost completely and on all but one night has brought up her bedtime milk along with done partly digested satsuma which is all she has eaten at around lunchtime. She keeps milk gown during the day,
Isn't this odd? I wonder if anyone else has had a big like this?
Also is there a chance she is allergic to the satsuma?
I'm confused.

At a push she might have a temporary lactose intolerance. This can last upto 6wks after a bug, especially in little ones. If you remove it completely for a period of time, it should then resolve itself. I can't remember how long for. My dc had to stay off milk for a good week each time they'd been sick or they's do it again. However, they've both ended up developing quite a strong intolerance to dairy altogether, so not sure whether this is just them. I realise I haven't been very clear and hope someone more useful will come along!

Yes dairy can irritate the tummy after a bug, have just posted on a noro thread that my friend was advised by nurse practictioner to keep her dd off dairy for a week if poss after the bug.
My dd had a very bad sickness bug when she was 5 & although not quite herself during the day, feeling sick but hungry too every night for about a week she was sick at night, just once or twice shortly after lying down. Someone told me its something to do with the position & the windpipe or something???? Gp advised then to avoid dairy, fruit, & have lots of plain pasta, toast jacket potatoes etc.

Thanks that's very useful. Could I give dairy free milk as she loves her bottles and its all she's having at the moment

My ds3 vomited 2 nights in a row and then again on night 4. Fine but lethargic in the day. Ds2 vomited one night. Other friends have had overnight vomiting fine in the day bug too - I reckon it must be going round. Hth.

Isn't it odd? I've been laid up all day with the most awful aches in my body even my hair hurts. No sickness just nausea and no appetite but do weak I could hardly move. I have discovered that syndol work very well to make me feel almost normal but Jeeez I felt as if I was hurting from my core outwards

She's not great this morning. Very lethargic and wants to sit on my lap with a blanket over her. Has has 2 biscuits and a soldier of toast. She is very pale too.

Have you heard of the brat diet OP? It's really good for during and after bugs. Banana rica apple and toast and variations of that.

ledkr · 30/12/2012 10:19

No I haven't. She's not keen on rice and satsumas have made her throw up so do you think apple will be ok

pureed apple is really good and easy to digest. try the baby friit poys or cook some apple down yourself. i find it a great comfort food too.

roundabout1 · 30/12/2012 16:08

fruit pots that should say - bloomin phoneSmile

ledkr · 30/12/2012 16:10

Sympathies - my 3yo's been ill since Xmas Eve with this bug and now I seem to have it too (no vomiting for me thankfully). Advice used to be starve for 24 hours after d&v, then changed to BRAT, then changed again to small amounts of whatever they will eat; but I agree that fruit puree pots/pouches and dry toast seem to stay down best.

CometAndCupid · 30/12/2012 16:16

The last time my dd had a sickness bug it was a bit like this. I had it and so did my sisters, it was only a 24 hour thing for us but dd kept being sick once every afternoon for 4/5 days. She would seem to be okay, just very tired the rest of the time then suddenly vom everywhere.

I guessed it was just her body processing the bug differently to how our grown up bodies would Xmas Confused
