Anyone has any experience of this with their little ones?

Yes it's horrid! Both of mine have had it and my youngest twice. Awful! Loads of water to drink...calpol when you can and that's it! It starts to improve after about three days.

Yes! DS1 had a horrible bout of it - high temperature for about 5 days, followed by horrid big sores all over his torso, arms, legs and even on his face. Hegot so many on his legs that his ankles and feet swelled massively for a cuple of days and he couldn't wear socks or shoes :-( it took a good 8 weeks for the sores to go.

Apparently there are two strains though. One is really evil and nasty (one DS got) and there's a less virilent strain that causes much fewer symptoms and goes away much quicker. DS was actually given blood tests in hospital to check the strain he had as the nasty strain can can apparently affect white cell count...

Yes, my DD got it at 11 months old, and ended up with impetigo at the same time and some other non specific viral rash too. Apparently impetigo and HFM go together quite frequently. She wasn't very well for about 4 or 5 days then bounced back quickly.
