Baby boy not well, what could it be if its not a UTI?

Just wondered if any of you have had similar with your Dcs.
Ds1 (2.5 years) has been poorly for nearly a month. He has been complaining of stomach pains, writhing around in pain sometimes, asking me to make it better. He has not been sleeping very well, waking a lot in the night for quite long periods of time. He has been barley eating and drinking, really off his food. He has a fever and has vomited a few times in the moth long period.
We have been to the doctor a few times over the last month and on Monday the doctor said he was sure it was a urine infection as these were most of the symptoms but I got the result from the sample today and it came back clear so it is not a UTI.
We are so worried about him and just don't know what to do? Anyone else experienced similar?
Many Thanks

Have you been back to the GP now the test results are back?

I called for the results this morning and they said I will have to call back at 8.30 tomorrow morning to make another appointment, which I will but going out of my mind with worry...

Can understand why you are worried. My DS has a very nasty tummy upset at around 2.5 and for a long time after would howl in pain at night. He had every test going and in the end the Paed said he'd been left with a weakness and may have diahorrea on and off for all of his childhood. Literally ice in a drink will give him runny poos as will ice cream and too much sugar.

Think what I'm trying to say is you are right go back to the GP and I'd be asking for a referral, but try not to worry too much, although I know how difficult this can be.

I would be very tempted to bypass the GP now and go to A&E so that you can see a paediatrician. If it is a post viral thing or something very minor (which, in all likelihood it will be) then at least you will be reassured and will know how best to manage his symptoms.

Thank you so much for responding. Its good to know I am not being the drama queen that the doctors receptionists make me feel! I have nearly taken him to A&E once already when he was up on the night complaining of stomach pains but I called ahead at our local children's A&E and they just told me to call the out of hours doctor who suggested we see the GP again.

We had a similar run around with our DS, I absolutely had to insist on a referral to a Paed. Perhaps if you don't fancy going to a&e an alternative might be to insist on a GP appointment today and then insist on a referral.

How are things now?

The doctor has referred us to the pead at the hospital, we should get the apt in the New Year. He still thinks its quite likely that he just has a few bugs at once but wants to rule anything more sinister out and make sure its not an allergy. Thanks for your help.

In all probability the GP will be right but I think it's tight to get checked out Xmas Smile
