Hand, foot and mouth - wwyd?

I have had hand, foot and mouth since last Friday (which is when I started to feel unwell; rash started on Sunday). The rash and blisters are starting to clear up now, and are much better than they were, but it is obvious that there is something wrong with my hands, even if it's not obvious what it is.

It is my DD's toddler group Christmas party today. We have both been looking forward to it for weeks, but I'm really not sure if I should go. NHS Choices and Patient.co.uk say that the illness is still infectious until the spots have gone.

However, NHS Choices then goes onto say: "You should keep your child away from school or nursery while they are unwell. However, there's no need to wait until the last blister has gone before your child can return to school or nursery, provided they are otherwise well. The same advice applies to adults and the workplace."

I feel absolutely fine and would really like to take DD to the Christmas party, but I am also aware at how dreadful I'd feel if I pass the infection on, especially this close to Christmas. I know it's ultimately my decision, but would like to get other people's thoughts.

One benefit of staying away is that we're less likely to come into contact with norovirus

You're infectious and it's almost Christmas - dont go.

We didn't go. You're right Bea, I'd have felt dreadful if someone else got the infection, especially this close to Christmas.
