DS (9) says feeling sick at some stage every day.... any experience?

DS aged 9 says he is feeling sick at some stage nearly every day. Sometimes several times a day. He can look very pale and tired. However if any distraction or activity provided he is 100% and bouncing about. He has always had a naturally honest nature, so I dont think he is "putting this on", and he gets no by ball on things, no extra special attention. This happened last year as well for months on end and took him to doctor and got extensive blood tests done and nothing showed up. It went away, but has returned again. He appears to be happy at school, and his teacher says he is very popular in class. He is top in his class so not finding the work difficult. Have discussed butterflies in tummy and nerves with him, and he says he knows what these are, but this isnt it. He just doesnt feel right. What throws me off is how quickly he can turn from pale and miserable to running about in top form.

Just wondering if anyone any similar experiences or any advice

Thanks

Have you had him tested for coeliac disease? Symptoms do include sore tummy and paleness.

No, it is one of the things I was wondering about. I have started a food diary a few days ago, so was hoping it might shed some light if there was any pattern. Is there a straightforward test that you can get done?

Thanks.... part of me wants him totally checked out, part of me is reluctant to put him through lots of potentially invasive investigations, if there is some more simple explanation. When we went to the doctors last, he was nice but a little dismissive, saying sometimes children have sore tummies, can be stressed etc. Feeling totally confused and one day worried sick about him, the next day thinking theres nothing seriously wrong. Also the fact that this has come and gone for well over a year but never really got any worse also has me puzzled.
