And if so who to?
I loath complaining, I think we get a great service as a family from the NHS but I can't help being niggled about this.
DD has had toiletting issues for three years now in the fact that she had a bout of constipation and has never been clean since, only got better at timing so doesn't soil at school anymore (yr 2 but regularly did so in reception and yr 1). We have been under a pediatrician since April 2010 so when she had just turned four. Despite us always telling her she leaked poo, pediatrician has always insisted that she isn't constipated, had felt her tummy and said so, and has just played around with her senakot to try and get her to go properly, this and alongside being told to try varying rewards and puinishments has been our lives for three years. I have been back to the doctors on many ocassions to try to get referrals to someone else or a more specialist pediatrician for the past two years as I always thought that there was a problem but no one was taking it seriously.
We finally got referred to a specialist constipation nurse who ordered an x ray two weeks ago, the first, and discovered that the impaction is not in her bowel but in her rectum and can't be felt by prodding. So our DD has been cajoled, yelled at, bribed, and rewarded for the past two years for something that she can't physically remove by herself but needed a much stronger dose of medicine to clear.
not sure what I want, but it has been three years of frustration on everyones parts in our family, which seemingly could have been solved some time ago by an xray or at least a proper examination.
