my 10wk old dd has just come home from hospital after 2 nights in for bronchiolitis and pneumonia.
She is a lot lot better now. dont think she had it too severe as she can stop the ab/s, and didnt need any help with breahing or feeding.

My Q is though, should i keep her inside for a while. I feel like its too cold to go outside with her. mil has offered to sit with her while i take other dc's to school, but other than that, i wiould be housebound! is that a bit ott?

thanks xx

As long as she is wrapped up then going out will do her good as she needs fresh air.

I am normally keen on fresh air at all times of year--and mine went out every single day. . .

BUT, when my 11-month baby son had pneumonia (five days in hospital) followed by bronchiolitis, i heeded the advice of our GP, who told me that sensation of very cold air on sore, inflamed longs was like surgical spirit, ie, it hurts.

So, although I did have to go out, I kept the trips short and snappy, so, in and out of the car to go shopping, etc.

DS was in HDU with Bronchiolitis when he was 10 weeks old, it happened during a very snowy spell but when we were discharged the Consultant told us to make sure he did get some fresh air each day, and that it would do more harm to stay indoors than to go out for a short period wrapped up.

Admittedly where we were that Christmas was the north of Scotland and the temperatures were well below freezing most of the time. That feels very cold on sore lungs.

When I had pneumonia I was advised to get fresh air but to avoid very cold temperatures. I would have avoid going outside too much in this current weather during my recovery time tbh. If I did have to go out I was properly wrapped up and had my scarf up over my mouth/
