Poor dd 14 is very worried - excessive weeing/blood in urine

Dd has been weeing a lot for a few months (she only just told us!)... but we had noticed she was getting up several times in the early evening to wee - fine when she's asleep and she doesn't wake til morning. She goes more than her friends during the day too she told me. I booked doctor's appointment thinking she had a UTI. Just been to the docs - she did a sample and the wee looked awful! Quite dark orangy/yellow with bits floating around in it - quite cloudy. Doctor said no trace of infection but that there was a trace of blood in it. DD said she'd finished her period yesterday so GP asked for another sample to be taken in tomorrow for dipping and has referred her for a glucose blood test. Obviously they are thinking diabetes! She realised straight away (having googled her weeing symptoms) and is now in tears and really worrying herself. I'm not sure what to say to comfort her! She doesn't have any other symptoms of diabetes as far as I can tell - not excessive thirst etc - just the weeing. If it's not a UTI or diabetes, I am praying it's nothing sinister but I must admit to being concerned.

Any thoughts welcome......

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a child....i got very ill very quickly and weeing a lot was just the tip of the iceberg, i was extremely thirsty and very tired...it doesn't sound like diabetes to me...sounds more like cystitis!
