Oilatum bath forumula

DS2 has eczema and is prescribed Oilatum bath formula and cream. Trying to get his latest pspn filled I was told at several chemists that Oilatum is no longer being supplied and I'd have to go back to my doctors and ask for an alternative - the pharmacy would not recommend one.

Anyone else had this or can anyone suggest alternatives? I'm trying to resist the temptation to pay for it off Amazon.

Um why ask on a forum? The info is correct, oilatum isn't available at the moment, though it might be in future. If you want it on prescription you'll have to ask your GP.

If you want to buy it though you can. It's not like buying viagra etc- you'll get the " proper stuff" .

Don't ask me why its available for sale and yet not in the prescription system, it's a mystery that happens!

I was at the docs last week and they had a notice on the wall that they wouldn't be supplying it on perscription anymore. Can't remember the name of the one that took its place tho. They said it was because of cost cutting. I have Camden council so not sure if it's a nationwide thing. I use it for my daughter and it's expensive isn't it.

ask for hydromol instead- it's been way better for my son's eczema than oilatum or balneum.

Shit I need to go get some but have been busy past couple of weeks. It worked wonders on dd.

Theas I don't appreciate your tone. It's an open forum. I posted in childrens health. I wondered if anyone had encountered the same problem and although I had Googled alternatives, I didn't know which one to chose.

My son used to use Oilatum bath until, as you found, they discontinued it. He's 3.4.

when we phoned the GP to ask for an alternative, she reeled off a couple of names and asked if we had a preference as they all do pretty much the same thing, so we've now got Doublebase instead. The NHS leaflet is here.

Aveeno bath oil. Better than oilatum in my humble opinion.

I use cetraben oil and cream from docs for my dd.
