Small unexplained bruises

I noticed my DS had a small bruise on the back of his upper leg last week which I thought was odd as it's not really a place you'd expect to find one. It lasted a few days.

Tonight I've now noticed 2 small circular bruises on the back of both his arms ( near the elbows). It's just such a strange place to have them and I can't figure out how he could have got them. They are much smaller than 'regular' bruising. I'm going to take him to the GP next week but just wondered if anyone else has any experience of this?

Thanks

Oh, yes, I had the nosebleeds too oneandnomore. Someone did say once that I might have a minor issue with clotting.

Still, no harm done so far, and no haemorrhages for either of the births of dcs, so it is possible to have these things and come to no ill effect.

Hope the same is true for both your dd and crazytictac's ds.

I agree with the others that you should definitely get it checked out as unexplained bruises can be an indicator of serious conditions but hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.

I bruise ridiculously easily and always have done. I've even bruised myself when scratching an itch. Currently I have a corker covering the full length of the front of my lower leg from bumping into something when I got up to use the loo in the night. If you saw it you'd think my leg had been run over!

Just a quick update, took DS to the doctor. He was quite thorough in his examination despite DS wriggling like a worm and screaming his head off. He could feel a few raised lymph nodes behind the ear but wasn't concerned about these. He felt his abdomen to check his liver and spleen and listened to his heartbeat which were all fine. DS was trying to climb and jump off a chair then so was a bit disjointed but upshot was that clinically speaking he didn't think there was anything untoward.

He couldn't comment on the bruising as these had completely gone within a space of 3 days and haven't come back since. Still baffled as to how these appeared in the places they did.

If these do come back in the same area then will go back and insist on tests. At least it's on record now so will have to be taken more seriously if there is a reoccurrence.
