Sorry for npt updating - so much has happened in last few days, I'd forgotten I'd started this thread - put it down to sleep depr and anxiety. I did ring nhs direct, thank god, good advice everyone, and didn't even get a call back - just told to take her straight in ( by that point had also reduced feeds and was v lethargic).
So if your baby is going pale when asleep, call NHS direct!!!

i'm glad.
is she better now?
was it major?

Crossandratty · 19/10/2012 14:54

We're still in hospital but she is on the mend. Yep pretty major, to be honest Weds night she was fading fast and I was terrified.

good job you asked for advice and followed it up then.

It's one of those "am I being PFB?" moments, so I'm so glad you went to hospital.

Wine (i think you need it)

Just wanted to post thanks on behalf of mums everywhere to everyone who posted their replies to get this checked out. Thank goodness you did. Glad she is in the right place getting all the right care.

I wouldn't have known to get that checked either. There is such value in this community.

No, go straight to A&E as fast as you can! Any colour and/or breathing changes in a baby/young child should be treated as an emergency.

Our baby was in PICU overnight aged 5 weeks with breathing problems. Although we got him there pretty quickly (we did not bother with a child seat, my wife held him upright and I drove fast), his oxygen saturation was 72% and he was not controlling his blood gases. He was quickly admitted to PICU and put on CPAP. Luckily, within 24 hours, he was on the mend, and out of hospital in 72 hours. I don't know what would have happened had we stopped to call NHS direct.

OP, best of luck with your baby, it sounds like she is getting better. The good thing with young babies is that, although they go downhill fast, they get better fast too.

blondefriend · 21/10/2012 21:16

How is she doing? Have you managed to get her home? Have they given you any answers? Thinking of you.

My ds used to go blue round his mouth when he had wind, he also had reflux not sure if it was also to do with that.
