any knowledgeble people know? ds has had it - for ages it seems, well as has his gf so it might be being passed from one t'other. dh and i now have it.
we are creaming tonight
ds did already, dd last night, and me and dh and dd tonight!

so change of sheets afterwards, or before as well?
wrap stuff in plastic that can't be washed.

wash at 50 degrees, dont want to do that on most things that say 40 degres but asume bed clothes and towels will stand it. have no tumble drier. or do we have to do a hot wash,

You need to do everything you can in a 90 degree wash.
Clean sheets everyday. Bag up removed clothes, keep them bagged and wash them after a few days, and mop the bathroom floor with bleach.
Put about 5 capfuls of thin unperfumed bleach in your son's bathwater, (into a full bath) and see if you can get some borax online
Put some bleach in the hot wash too.
The cream alone does not work, it is just one weapon.
It is a war!!
Go to scabies topix forums NOW!!!!
The thing that will kill them is ivermectin, but it is not prescribed in this country.
You can buy a horse wormer from country store that has ivermectin but don't tell them it is for a human, follow thee weight advice on the tube.
The doctors do not know what they are up against, they will just say ooooh we gave you the permethrin creme, now you are cured.
Good luck, it is horrendous.

NellyJob · 29/09/2012 18:24

ironing might be one more weapon....if you have soft furnishings where your son or his gf have sat, spray with a bleach solution or steam clean.
Mop everywhere you can obsessively.

NellyJob · 29/09/2012 18:24

that includes mattresses.
ewwwwwww

scaborus · 29/09/2012 18:25

oh Shock
thanks, the dermatologist did say come back in a month and we could give you this unlicensed pill. perhaps that is it.

i will bag up, thanks.

NellyJob · 29/09/2012 18:32

Can you borrow a steam cleaner? We did everything - floors, skirtings, mattresses, curtains, shelves, tops of books ... it turned out we didn't have it but we had a seriously clean house (for a couple of weeks) afterwards.
