Tips for helping a baby with a cold...

DS is 5 months and has his first cold. He seems ok in himself considering, but has a blocked nose and a cough.

I've bought saline spray and an aspirator for his nose which seems to help, and a plug in vaporiser for at night.

I co-sleep, so popped a pillow under the duvet (he sleeps on top of the duvet, in a gro-bag) to raise his head slightly, but he still woke up every hour or so. He is still feeding ok.

Is there anything else I can do? I feel so sorry for him!

The plug in vaporisers are great, so is elevating the head, but ultimately when they have a cold they hack away and wake up a lot and there isn't a whole lot you can do. Hope he is better soon.

Basically you are doing all the practical stuff. If he seems exceptional miserable a dose of calpol eases sore throats and general feeling awfulness!

Thanks, pity there's no miracle cure!

Everywhere (well, boots!) is out of karvol, but I did find baby olbas oil so have dabbed some on a tissue and popped it in his baby gro, over his vest.

Hoping it passes soon, we've only just got sleep back to normal after a four month regression!

Olbas oil on your top/bra if you BF and maybe on a muslin wrapped around the bottle if you FF. Olbas oil in the bath. Olbas oil on the sheets. I should probably get shares in Olbas PLC!
