DS1 has stomach pains and can't straighten up.

DS1 was complaining of stomach ache and feeling sick last night. He seemed to sleep ok but has woken up this morning with stomache ache again.

Apparently it is much worse if he straightens his legs and he came downstairs hunched over. I've checked his temp and it's normal although he is rather flushed.

Any ideas? Should I try and get an appointment with the GP or leave him in bed?

Where is the pain ? If it is towards the bottom right then it may be appendix. I would try and see the GP because it has persisted overnight and is causing him to hunch over.

Possibly wind? I suffered badly as a child with similar.

Thanks both. It's across the bottom of his stomach. I think i'm going to try an see the GP as he's crying in pain.

could be just wind it can be so painful however it wouldn't last that long would it, drawing up of knees and unable to straighten suggests appendix to me. I've only seen one person with appendix had to rush her to hospital she was doubled up too. TBH I'd suggest a trip to a and e or at least GP. Good luck let us know how you get on.

Get him to lie with his knees up and together to one side, twisting at the waist, with his torso flat on the bed - if that makes sense.

If it is wind that should offer some relief.

Poor wee mite, trip to the docs a must.

Thanks. Empire - I've got him following your advice.

Just what I needed today, I was off work yesterday with DS2 who was full of cold and now this. Better to be sure though isn't it. Going to ring the GP when they open at 8am and if there is no joy with an appt I'll take him tio A&E.

I had appendicitis at 11. It developed over a few hours, and was very painful - started during a cross country run at school and I thought it was a stitch at first. By the time I was going home on the bus I was crying with pain and doubled over, and my dad took me straight to hospital and had an operation that night.

If the pain is on the left hand side low down then it is likely constipation. Otherwise if it is more central it could be mesenteric adenitis - which is basically inflamed glands in the stomach (might be the case if your other DS has a cold). My DS gets this (first time was the most painful though) - where the other kids get a sore throat it goes to his stomach.

Hope he feels better soon.

Thanks throckenholt.

We saw the GP this morning and he decided at this point to tell us both that he had been doing sit ups in PE yesterday - AAAagghhh!

The GP doesn't think it's Appendicitis as she could touch and press his stomach. We've been told to keep an eye on him and if the pain gets worse or he gets a fever, diarrhea or vomiting to call the GP but she thinks it's likely to be stomach muscle pain.

I can't beleibe he didn't think to tell me about his PE lesson earlier apparently I should have asked! Kids Angry To be honest I'm so relieved it's not his appendix I couldn't be cross and have left him with Granny.

ah well - hopefully that is all it was. Not sure how old he is - but maybe he doesn't understand how muscles work - might be a good time to delve into a bit of basic anatomy :)
