DD, 21 months, didn't really want dinner last night (though had a cake mid afternoon yesterday) and didn't want breakfast this am though had bottle of milk when she woke then raisins and fruit pot mid morning. She became fractious by lunchtime and had a long sleep and since waking has refused lunch and all other food all day except half a carton of apple juice, about 7 grapes and a few sips of water. Her nappies are wet though. She has a temperature but not that high. (Not used thermometer but is hot to touch but not very very hot and repsonded well to calpol) Presumably this is enough sustenance to ensure she won't dehydrate?

I wouldn't worry about food just let her eat what she wants when she wants and keep pushing the fluids in as much as you can.

Hope she feels better soon

Yes. Forget about food unless she wants it. Just make sure she keeps drinking.

starfishmummy · 17/09/2012 22:59

Just keep up the drinking and forget food for a day or two.

When DS had 3 days of D&V at 15m and got vv dehydrated to the point we ended up on the children's ward the consultant said he could "not eat for 2 weeks" and he would be ok
But we had to get fluid into him - ended up syringing it into him.

Food can wait til she wants it again

Sorry meant to add just ensure she keeps having wet nappies and is drinking ( which sounds like you are already doing)
