9 month old eating poo

I am in the process of potty training my 3 year old son and this morning I left his nappy off whilst I went to get dressed. On my return I found that my son had pooed all over the floor and that my 9 month old baby had crawled over and proceeded to pick up the poo, smear it all over his face and eat it Shock

Does anybody know if this will make him ill? I'm so worried he might catch something like E coli.....is this possible?

I have been at work all day but since picking up the boys from my parents my 9 month old has been very grumpy, is constantly crying, and has not eaten any of his tea (although he did drink his milk) Is this just coincidence or should i be worried? Please help!

Oh gosh, I really don't know the answer but didn't want to read and run!
I would personally just keep an eye on his temp, and if he starts being sick or anything then maybe get him to the docs?
How much of it do you think he ate? It may just give him a bit of an upset stomach x

LOL, my DD was a nightmare for doing this. She is nearly 11 now & on occasions I like to remind her of her sneaky trips to the potty to munch poo!

I guess there is a small risk of picking up a bug, but I'm guessing your son (the one who did the poo) lives in a fairly hygenic environment, eats well cooked food & doesn't spend alot of time petting farm animals or wild animals.

Just keep an eye on the baby, if he starts becoming feverish or really poorly, then take him to A&E. There are loads of colds going around at the moment, with all the kids back at school, so try not to get too worried.

Sorry, should have said that DD never got sick - although I would sometimes be wretching cleaning the little monkey off. Trying to get the stench of poo off tiny finger nails is a real challenge.

Ok thank you for the replies. ds2 seems his usual self today so I guess it must have just been coincidence! Just wanted some reassurance that nothing bad was going to happen Smile
Lol @ postbellumbugsy....oh the joys of childhood! Really hope ds2 hasn't got a taste for it......but I guess I now have a good embarrassing tale to tell on his 18th birthday!
