Help! DD(3) screaming about sore bottom

Is there anything I can do now now to improve things? She's been fussing for a while, then we had a hideous night last night and I dosed her with worm medicine yesterday evening.
I couldn't get her to the dr today, but will definitely take her tomorrow - she's inconsolable, and if tonight is anything like last night, she'll be up every hour and a half or so, complaining about hurt.
PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE does anyone have any magic remedies?

Your case sounds alot worse, but in desperation I have smeared a nappy with tons of plain live yogurt and put that on overnight.soothed it quite alot. Was working on the yogurt tampax principle- and desperation. But it was a sore bottom rather than worms and she was v upset but not screaming.
Good Luck for tonight.

Have you sudocremed her?

SizzleSazz · 12/09/2012 21:08

Is it definitely worms? Have you checked? If so, usually one dose of Ovex does the trick in my experience and then some barrier cream on the bottom.

forgottoremember · 12/09/2012 21:13

haven't got sudocreme and am home alone...
would vaseline work?
she's half out of nighttime nappies, and though I put a pull up on her (am desperate for a better night's sleep as DS is only 3 months) it's now off as it seemed to be making things worth
it's her anus that is upsetting her. couldn't see any worms, and it isn't red...

I think it isn't Ovex but something like Vermix I gave her - 24 hours ago now, and she's fussing worse tonight than last night...

Have you got some calpol or similar? Maybe just give her one dose and that might help to ease it so she can fall asleep.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 12/09/2012 21:17

Calpol or nurofen?

I know nothing about this condition but it may help?

girliefriend · 12/09/2012 21:18

I would give her a dose of calpol, not sure about vaseline, it may help may not but won't do any harm. When my dd has had worms sudocrem works really well so get yourself some in for next time.

Just seen that you have a baby, have you got any nappy rash type cream as that would help.

forgottoremember · 12/09/2012 21:45

gave her nurofen before bedtime - doesn't seem to have done anything! or maybe it has, and it'd have been worse without.

I've got metanium and morhulin, but they're both old old tubes and I don't know if they'd help...

Try Savlon - I tried it in desperation once for terrible nappy rash when metanium and sudocreme failed me. It seemed to soothe on contact.

girliefriend · 12/09/2012 21:50

Never heard of morhulin but metanium would be worth a try, if she is still screaming give her some calpol as well (she can have that as well as nurophen)

timetosmile · 12/09/2012 21:54

slap the metanium on ..can't do any harm , and give her some calpol and piriton if you have any, which might help her sleep.

you do know all of you over 2yrs in the house have to have a dose of ovex/vermix don't you? Confused

forgottoremember · 12/09/2012 21:56

just cracked and called NHS direct who advised piriton.
will try savlon next, though not sure it'll get through the vaseline... bed for me now, as I can't see it being much of a sleeping night...
thanks so much for advice.

Hope you get some rest and dd feels better soon.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 12/09/2012 22:00

Piriton can cause drowsiness so you both might get some rest.

Good luck

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 13/09/2012 13:45

How did you get on last night?

Piriton help? How's your dd?

forgottoremember · 13/09/2012 20:33

thanks for asking! was a fairly miserable night, but a lot better than the evening.
she was cheerful all day, but wriggling a bit by the time we got to the dr - who had a look and there were two little worms. So definitely the right diagnosis. He said you just have to wait it out, the medicine doesn't work instantly. And advised sudocreme to deal with the immediate agony.
I didn't need to go, did I - you lot had told me what to do already!

Still glad I did though...
Fingers crossed we're through the worst of it...
thanks for hand-holding.

talcum powder with menthol can also give relief (only use a little though).
