Flaky scalp on 7 year old

DS2 keeps itching his head/hair. I have checked and he does not have nits.

He had stubborn cradle cap when he was a baby and NOTHING got rid of it. I can see dry patches of skin stuck to his head now (as I said, he is 7). It's not dandruff.

Any ideas on how I can treat it? Please. He's making me itch now!

My 6 year old DD has awful dry scalp. I now use loreal elvive intensive (orange strip) it has added selenium and works on my psoriasis and her scalp is fine now.

Ooh, my 7 tr old has the same thing?!
I presumed it was because of the summer heat and sun cream etc irritating it
I haven't treated it yet, just waiting to see if it goes away

I'd take him up to the drs then. Maybe excema or psoriasis, plus you can get the medicated shampoo on the NHS !!!

Yes that's the one. It's expensive but brilliant stuff. I tried everything including prescription tar shampoo etc. this really works and boots do BOGOFs so worth bulk buying which is what I do Wink

Hiya
Just found your post as my 7yr old has the same and also had stubborn cradle cap as a baby, I've been looking it up on net and it may be seborrheic dermatitis but obviously I will get it checked

DS has the same. They can prescribe a steroid ointment in smelly solvent which then evaporates. This works brilliantly for a flare-up. But day to day I just try to smother his head in olive oil and then comb it through repeatedly, which seems to work well if done regularly.
