Ds2 smacked his two front teeth on his friend's head
yesterday. They've been knocked backwards a bit but are still in.
We saw the dentist pretty quickly who said there's a slight wobble but that's all. Now, dh (who took him yesterday) is sure the dentist suggested that we should just wait as the teeth would probably fall out in the next few months although if before that they discolour or the gum gets swollen they'd need to come out.
I took ds back today (as his mouth was v swollen) and the dentist definitely said to me they'll need to be extracted within a few months. He said "the damage is already done". Although he also said they look a bit straighter than yesterday
I totally understand that if there is an infection the teeth should be extracted but is it inevitable? And so soon? Having had a quick search it seems that even with discolouration other parents have been advised just to wait for the teeth to fall out naturally. To add to the trickiness ds has a speech problem which he is due to start therapy for next week so anything that will make that harder I'm desperate to avoid.
I'd be grateful for any thoughts/experiences!
