DS itchy bum and red spots-any ideas?

DS suffers with a very itchy bum. He delays going for a poo as in reception the older kids peered over doors etc (little buggers) which seems to have made ds a bit anxious about pooing generally. Tonight he has had 2 poos and when i went to put some anusol (i know he is young but it gives him relief) it was all red and sore around his bum and there are now a few red spots around his bum. It can be so bad it keeps him awake and he had the itching in the middle of the cinema a couple of weeks ago. it is always after a poo. I do wonder if its his diet, he doesn't eat enough fruit and veg really. any ideas???

I'd guess worms - DS2 always has spots on his bum with worms, plus you cant always see them in the poo.

Hi, Not sure if this is relevant to you but sometimes using wipes can irritate their bums and ofcourse not drying thoroughly enough. The delays can be about having too much fun to bother sitting down for a poo,.. last minute and all that!

DS had something similar, coz of the waking in the night we thought worms, but after the treatment (just a dose of medicine over the counter or from doc) it was still there, so doc prescribed an anti-fungal and it cleared up fine.

Worms are par for the course, same as nits, but you get used to finding the little buggers..
Ovex is your friend! Grin

I'd eliminate the worm theory first, then go for the fungi/yeast option, if it doesn't go away.

My dd ha spots on her bottom even now at 6 years old. She often suffers with uti's and has had thrush 3 or 4 times. She also suffers mild excema and stress incontinence . I'd go to dr so they can see if it's any infection not clearing up. Fucudin cream is often given to clear it up. Use baby or e45 bath creams in the bath and shower and reduce the use of yeasty products like marmite. It has helped us no end

That should be fucidin cream
