How to weaning DD off Movicol

9yr old DD has been on Movicol for a couple of years. We're now down to one satchet 5 days a week with a view to dropping the days gradually. I'd initally thought to drop a Movicol day every month but am wondering whether that's a little too cautious and whether every 2 weeks would do?

I would drop the dose first rather than the day 1/2 sachet a day then if no issues arise 1/2 sachet every other day then it will be easy to drop to nothing. If you have any concerns you can talk to GP they are best placed to advise.

Hadn't thought about halving the dose - that's a good idea - thank you. Will speak to GP but will leave to next week as isn't urgent Friday afternoon kind of stuff!

Oh ... and thank you too for politely not noticing how I'd made a typo in the post title!!

My DD's consultant said to drop it VERY slowly. When she was down to 1 a day, we moved to 3/4 of a sachet daily for 2 weeks, then half daily for a month, then decreasing by a day every 2 - 4 weeks. She kept stressing the SLOW, and to immediately put it right up if there was any sign of a relapse. Hope that helps.

That's extremely helpful and good to know/bear in mind - thank you very much.
